Paul Murray Academy manager speaks.

For Dave Stringer.

Dave tragically lost his life to cancer in 2018. He left a legacy with regards to his support of the Playershare scheme of fundraising over £8k. His son Chris, now takes up the baton and support of the switch to the Academy. Chris speaks.

“I’m looking forward to carrying on the work my dad put into Playershare in its new guise and I’m really excited to support the Academy and Paul Murray’s work. My dad often spoke to me about how he thought Playershare had the potential to support young players at the club – I’m delighted to see this become a reality.

As Latics fans, we all feel a sense of pride when we see the likes of James Tarkowski play at the highest level and I think it would be really special to see a fan-funded Academy graduate reach the top of their game in years to come.

I was really proud of my dad’s contribution through the Easyfundraising page and I hope I can at least make a fraction of the contribution he made in years to come.”
